R O O T E D & G R O U N D E D I N L O V E

As I reflected on Ephesians 3:17-18 this morning, I felt like the Lord was saying, “this love that you are to be rooted & grounded in is not established in emotion & feelings, but this love is established in a CHOICE of dedication & faithfulness.”

I look back on this picture from my wedding day, full of emotion and true love, but that love has grown roots that are much deeper. Roots that have been established through the daily choice to be faithful and committed to one another in the good and the bad, in the big and in the small. You see, a marriage is not built on the FEELING of love alone. It is founded on the CHOICE to love.

Our relationship with God is just the same. You cannot rely on feeling to sustain you, because there will be days that the feelings & emotions just aren’t there. You will walk through seasons where you must be rooted and grounded in the promises of God’s love because those promises will sustain you even when the feelings tell you otherwise.

I know that God wants me to feel His love and experience His love (he says it in Eph. 3:19), but I think we first have to be rooted and grounded in a love marked by FAITHFULNESS and DEDICATION.

Are you in a season where you aren’t FEELING the love of God? I’m praying that your roots will go down deep into the promises of God’s love, and that you will be sustained until the emotion reignites and matches the promise. Walk out in faithfulness and dedication. Even when you don’t have the height of emotion to carry you, His promises will ground you and sustain you.

Lavished Love

1 John 3:1
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God! And that is what we are!”

What an incredible, life-changing verse! The Lord’s love is overwhelmingly great, and He has lavished it upon us. The word “lavished” means He has “poured” it over us, He has “smothered” us with His love, He has “covered” us with His love. How amazing, and how great! He loved you so much that He calls you His child!

Think about that for a minute. The Lord of all creation, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, has made you His child. His love for us is the most perfect love that a Father has for His children. As Ephesians 3:18 says, His love is wide and long and high and deep. And, He lavishes that kind of love upon us! How amazing!

Praise the Lord! I challenge you to meditate on the thought of being a chosen child of God whom He dearly loves. It will change your perspective! Hallelujah and Amen!
